The Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has passed a vote of confidence in its governorship candidate, Omar Suleiman, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced by Abubakar Audu, chairman of the ADC caretaker committee, on behalf of the 21 local government area chairmen, at a press briefing on Sunday, in Yola.

Mr Audu said the decision followed reports and speculations suggesting that Suleiman had been sidelined.

“There are speculations suggesting that Suleiman had been sidelined by the party or that the party was considering another governorship candidate.

“The claims are false and the handiwork of mischief makers seeking to create confusion and disunity within the party,” he said.

According to Mr Audu, the ADC in Adamawa remains united and has no factions, adding that Suleiman remains the party’s duly recognised governorship candidate.

He urged party members and supporters to remain committed to strengthening the party ahead of future political activities.

Mr Audu also called on members across the 21 LGAs to work together to build a strong opposition capable of providing a credible alternative for voters in the state.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to its leadership and governorship candidate, stressing that attempts to sow division within the ADC would fail.
