The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated  Governor Ademola Adeleke over his outburst against President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola ahead of the August 15 governorship election 

The APC described the governor’s comments as misplaced and frivolous. 

On Monday, Mr Adeleke, who is seeking re-election, accused the state’s former governor, Mr Oyetola, of obstructing the disbursement of funds meant for Osun.

The governor also called on Mr Tinubu to intervene and ensure a violence-free election in the state, warning that attempt to manipulate the poll would be rejected.

In a statement on Tuesday, the state’s APC director of media and information, Kola Olabisi, described Mr Adeleke’s allegation as disheartening and unsubstantiated.

Mr Olabisi stated, “It was disheartening that such a sweeping allegation of political victimisation against his government could be made by a governor who is known by all and sundry to be responsible for fuelling, promoting and bankrolling political violence in the state.

“The unsubstantiated allegations of the puppet Governor Adeleke who covers his inadequacy by resulting to dancing when injection of intellect is needed against President Tinubu and Oyetola are misplaced and frivolous as such amount to making a justification for his imminent defeat in the forthcoming governorship election,” he said.

The APC accused Mr Adeleke of harbouring suspected political thugs in the Government House and rewarding them with political appointments.

“The discerning minds in society would have been anxious to know the reason why few days to the governorship election in the state, the drowning and desperate governor has been granting undeserved and questionable amnesty to some of the dangerous political thugs serving various jail terms in the correctional centres across the state?” the statement said.

The APC spokesman said Mr Adeleke made unsubstantiated claims of political persecution at the rally because he was uncomfortable with political competition and his slim chances in the forthcoming governorship poll.

The spokesman said Mr Adeleke’s decision to endorse Mr Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election was volountary, adding that such a personal decision should not be the reason the governor should not be prepared for a credible and inclusive election.

“Why the worry if it is true that Governor Adeleke has done well for his state as the forthcoming 15th August, 2026 governorship election will be a yardstick to measure his claim in this regard?” Mr Olabisi said.

He added, “No one is contesting Governor Adeleke being the constitutional chief security officer of the state while the crux of the matter is why is it that it is the same self-acclaimed state CSO that has been the architect of the series of security breaches in the state?”

The APC spokesman said Mr Adeleke “cursed himself” with his remarks at the rally, alleging that the governor’s Accord party was responsible for the killings of APC members and supporters in the state.

He stated, “The crescendo of the desperate, confused and frustrated governor was when he cursed himself that the blood of those killed in the state will not allow those responsible for the extra-judicial killings to rest in peace as it is a barefaced fact that the governor and his party, the Accord Party, have been responsible for the needless shedding of the blood of the innocent APC members and supporters across the state.”

Mr Olabisi said Mr Adeleke’s remarks showed fear of losing the August 15 election, adding that the APC’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, was poised for victory.

“The reward of hard work is success which is the fundamental reason our candidate is not bargaining for less when Governor Adeleke was wining and dining and frolicking with women of easy virtues across the globe in the name of sourcing for illusive foreign investors for close to four years,” the APC spokesman said.
