Adeleke’s failure self-inflicted; Osun voters coming for him, not Tinubu: Accord Party Chairman

“Nobody is planning to rig you out. The voters of Osun state are simply ready to hold you accountable for your performance,” said Mr Imumolen.

The factional national chairman of the Accord Party, Chris Imumolen, says Governor Ademola Adeleke will be defeated in the August 15 Osun governorship election.

Mr Imumolen, in a statement on Tuesday, cautioned the governor against blaming President Bola Tinubu for his political woes. He stated that Osun residents would judge Mr Adeleke’s re-election bid by his current performance.

“Governor Adeleke must leave President Bola Tinubu out of his self-inflicted woes. He has failed the people of Osun State despite the huge monthly allocations flowing into the state’s coffers.

“The people of Osun State are highly sophisticated voters who will prioritise governance, accountability and tangible performance over political theatrics when they head to the polls,” Mr Imumolen stated.

The politician claimed that opinion polls at his faction’s disposal showed that Mr Adeleke “cannot scale through the election of August 15”.

“Nobody is planning to rig you out. The voters of Osun state are simply ready to hold you accountable for your performance, and they will use their constitutional power to elect leadership that genuinely serves them,” Mr Imumolen stated.

On Monday, Mr Adeleke, at a rally, called on Mr Tinubu to ensure a violence-free election and the safety of residents in the state. He declared that Osun residents will resist any attempts to rig the August 15 governorship election and warned of a repeat of the 1983 political conflagration that culminated in a military putsch.
