AFCON Final: AIPS condemns journalists for disrupting post-match press conference

The International Sports Press Association has condemned journalists for disrupting the post-match press conference of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between the Atlas Lions of Morocco and the Teranga Lions of Senegal in Rabat on Sunday.
Controversial decisions by the referee and the VAR prompted the Senegalese coach Pape Thiaw to order his team to stage a walkout in protest, but captain Sadio Mane later convinced his team-mates to complete the match, which eventually ended in a 1-0 victory.
In response, journalists during the post-match press conference could be heard booing Mr Thiaw, who was seated to answer questions about the match but had to walk out soon after as the booing continued.
The AIPS, in a statement on Tuesday, “condemned the behaviour of colleagues who prevented the post-match press conference of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Senegal in Rabat from proceeding smoothly on Sunday, 18 January”.
“Our association cannot accept that certain colleagues could tarnish the dignity of our profession, hence we have asked our colleagues at AIPS Africa for a detailed report on the incident,” AIPS added.
