Patron of the Nigerian Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Segun Musa, has called for support for the Super Eagles in their quarter-final encounter against Angola at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

Mr Musa made the call in an interview on Wednesday in Lagos.

He said massive support from home would motivate the Super Eagles to play well and qualify for the semifinal.

Nigeria will take on against Angola on February 2 by 5:00 p.m. at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, Abidjan.

Mr Musa, a former Lagos governorship candidate, said the Super Eagles had enough qualities to qualify for the finals and bring home the trophy at the end of the tournament.

“I appeal to Nigerians to get prepared for Friday and turn out en masse to support the Super Eagles who will be playing in the quarter-final. We are appealing for your maximum support to motivate the team to give their best on the pitch and increase their chances of qualifying for the semifinal.

“When we started this tournament, a lot of people condemned our performance in the beginning. Now you can’t help but agree that our performance has improved tremendously,” he said.

The patron said the Super Eagles usually start slow in a tournament while studying their opponents and then pick up the pace as the tournament advances.

Mr Musa said football was the only platform that brought Nigerians together regardless of ethnicity. He said he communicated with the supporters club daily to bring out their best, just as the late MKO Abiola did when he was the NFSC patron.
