Nigeria’s Handball team began their campaign at the African Games in Accra, Ghana, on Wednesday with a comfortable 38-19 victory over Togo.

Cosmos Chukwuemeka, spokesman for the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), stated this in a statement in Lagos.

He said coach Rafiu Salami’s men continued where they left off from the Africa Men’s Handball Nations Cup held in Egypt.

“They worked their socks off to dominate the match all through and could have won with a higher margin,” said the statement.

Nigeria will now play Mali in their second match on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Nigerian time, where a victory for them will see them advance to the semifinal.

African champions Egypt defeated Mali 49-16 in the other game.
