AGESI, Nigeria Climate Summit partner to drive Africa’s green economy

The Africa Green Economy & Sustainability Institute has partnered with the Nigeria Climate Investment Summit, London, in an alliance that will project Nigeria as a lead actor in addressing climate change concerns on the continent.
The investment summit, scheduled for June 23 in London, is aimed at transitioning Africa to a climate-resilient continent with a booming green economy, AGESI said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the statement, among benefits of AGESI’s partnership with NCIS London are the showcasing of Nigeria’s climate policy progress and investment opportunities, boosting partnerships for renewable energy, carbon markets, and transition finance.
Eugene Itua, AGESI’s executive director, said the partnership “represents a profound turning point for Nigeria and for Africa’s sustainable development journey”.
Mr Itua explained that the summit is not a mere convention of key stakeholders but a platform that signals Nigeria’s readiness to “shape the global green economy.”
“The Nigeria Climate Investment Summit is more than a convening—it is a bold platform for reimagining our future,” Mr Itua said. “It signals that Africa is ready to lead with purpose, ready to innovate with courage.”
AGESI said it would contribute to sustainability research, policy innovation, capacity development, green economy systems and transition frameworks.
NCIS London will be attended by the global who’s who in the climate sector including international investors, high-ranking Nigerian officials, development finance institutions, and other diaspora capital networks.
Mr Itua reiterated AGESI’s committed to leveraging NCIS London to drive Africa’s climate transition to a global standpoint where Africa can stand toe-to-toe with other climate-forward continents.
“Our mission is clear—to ensure that Africa’s climate transition is just, inclusive, and globally competitive. NCIS London is a powerful vehicle for achieving this vision, and AGESI is proud to help drive this transformative agenda,” Mr Itua stated.
