Air Peace plane crashes into antelope in another near-miss incident

Air Peace, no stranger to near-miss incidents, had Flight P4 7002 in 2018 delayed from landing at the Akure Airport, Ondo State, after cows took over the runway. The flight had departed from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos State.
The pilot of Flight P4 7002, after sighting the cattle on the runway, hovered around the airport for seven minutes to allow the animals to leave the runway before landing.
In July 2019, one of its Boeing 737 aircraft from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, made an emergency landing at MMIA, Lagos, and was damaged after experiencing turbulence due to weather conditions, which made landing difficult.
According to the airline, its pilot also requested to land on the international runway because it is longer and wider than the domestic runway, considering the size of the aircraft.
The company stated that after the aircraft landed and rolled to the runway exit, the nose gear developed a problem and partially collapsed, adding that the crew notified airport authorities who quickly ensured the safe disembarkation of the passengers.
The NCAA had, last week, asked the airline to address its incessant flight delays and cancellations, also advising it to trim its operations to match the number of available aircraft to mitigate the crisis.
In November 2021, an Air Peace aircraft coming from Owerri, Imo State, to Lagos suffered a bird strike that damaged the engine, causing the airline to withdraw the aircraft from active service.
In December 2021, Air Peace disclosed that a Max Air aircraft rammed into one of its aircraft while passengers were being boarded from Benin Airport to Abuja, but no casualties were recorded.
On February 28, 2025, the airline announced that it experienced flight disruptions after three of its aircraft suffered bird strikes within 24 hours, causing one of the affected aircraft to make an air return while the other two were grounded.
