Air Peace to acquire 787 Dreamliner from Boeing ahead of Mumbai route launch

Allen Onyema, the chief executive officer of Air Peace, has disclosed that the company is in discussions with Boeing on a possible B787 Dreamliner purchase.
“We have our B777s, and we are also discussing with Boeing for the Dreamliner, which I feel will come very soon,” Mr Onyema said at a webcast hosted by the African Airlines Association (AFRAA).
The revelation comes as Air Peace prepares to commence flight operations to Mumbai, India.
The airline met with its travel agents in February as part of its preparation to start the Mumbai operations.
The potential acquisition comes after Boeing shares dropped about five per cent at the end of February on reports that the manufacturer was halting B787 deliveries due to documentation concerns.
Air Peace had fixed March 31 as the date for it to begin flight operations to Mumbai in February.
During a meeting, the airline stated that travellers will now be able to fly to Mumbai through Lagos from Kano, Monrovia, Abuja, Accra, Port Harcourt, and Douala.
Captain Martin Okunpolor, Air Peace chief pilot, claimed that the carrier would now be flying straight from Nigeria to Mumbai.
