Akwa Ibom assembly confirms 20 of 27 Gov Eno’s political nominees

The Akwa Ibom House of Assembly has confirmed 20 out of 27 Commissioner and Special Adviser nominees sent by Governor Umo Eno for ratification.
During plenary on Tuesday in Uyo, the speaker, Udeme Otong, confirmed the nominees.
They had previously been screened by the House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights, and Public Petitions.
The speaker urged the confirmed commissioners to add value to the state executive council and deliver more democratic benefits to the people of Akwa Ibom.
The confirmed nominees include Aniekan Umanah, Henry Archibong, Nsikak Ekong, Alice Ekpenyong, Frank Archibong, Iniobong Ekong, Bob Emem, Ini Ememobong, Offiong Offor, and Uko Essien Udom.
Other confirmed nominees are Nsikak Nkan, Emem Ibanga, Anthony Luke, Iniobong Robson, Eno Ibanga, Emmanuel Ekem, Inibehe Etukudo, Frank Ekpenyong, Ekanem Ekerete, and Ubong Inyang.
Earlier, committee chair Aniefiok Attah, while presenting his report, described the nominees as individuals of proven integrity, qualified to serve in the State Executive Council.
He further stated that the committee had not received any adverse petitions against the nominees.
The governor sent 27 nominees to the house for confirmation on February 11.
The parliament adjourned plenary and will reconvene on February 20 to complete the screening and confirmation of the seven remaining nominees.
