Algeria cuts bilateral ties with UAE

Algeria on Thursday announced the severance of diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), saying it had exhausted efforts to preserve bilateral ties, the Algeria Press Service (APS) reported.
APS, citing a statement by the Algerian Foreign Ministry, said the decision followed what Algeria described as increasingly provocative or hostile actions by the UAE.
The ministry said Algeria had exercised great restraint and a high sense of responsibility in responding to the UAE’s conduct.
It said repeated warnings and calls for the UAE to consider the serious consequences of its actions had failed to change the situation.
According to the ministry, the UAE’s actions had reached the limits of what is admissible or tolerable.
It said the UAE ambassador was received at the ministry’s headquarters on Thursday and formally informed of the decision, with a 48-hour deadline to comply.
The ministry did not provide further details on the specific actions that prompted the decision.
Algerian media outlets have previously accused the UAE of seeking to fuel regional tensions
