ALGON appoints Ikpokpo as new DG

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria has appointed Mr Itiako Ikpokpo, as its new Director-General.

ALGON Media Officer, Obiora Orji, made the announcement in a statement in Abuja on Sunday.

Mr Orji said that Ikpokpo’s appointment was with immediate effect, and that he would take over from Hajiya Binta Bello whose tenure expired in November,

He said the appointment followed Me Ikpokpo’s nomination by the ALGON National President, Aminu Mu’azu Maifata and its ratification by the National Executive Council

“The ALGON national president has announced the appointment of Itiako Ikpokpo as the new Director-General of the association. The appointment was ratified by the National Executive Council at its 47th meeting held on March 21 in Abuja,” he said.

Mr Orji said that Mr Ikpokpo’s appointment was in recognition of his remarkable experience and active involvement in local government administration.

He said that the new D-G was outstanding when he served as Chairman, Isoko South Local Government Council in Delta State.

He stated, “He served two times as ALGON chairman in Delta, Deputy National President of ALGON and Chief of Staff to the immediate past National President of ALGON.’’

The ALGON spokesman expressed the association’s confidence that Mr

Ikpokpo would bring his experience to bear in his duty as ALGON D-G.

He added, “The national leadership of ALGON anticipates that he will reposition the association for better performance and service delivery. It is our belief that he will drive critical synergy towards the improvement of local government administration in line with the socio-political realities.’’
