The Edo State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has ordered all council chairs to always wear caps bearing President Bola Tinubu’s insignia to official meetings.

The Edo ALGON chairman, Sunny Ekpeson, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday by his media aide, Agbukor Lucky Apeakhuye, following Governor Monday Okpebholo’s directive on Thursday.

Mr Ekpeson said, “This is directing all 18 local government chairmen across the state to mandate their officials to wear customised caps bearing President Bola Tinubu’s insignia during official meetings at council secretariats.”

The chair said the directive is to prove that those in the grassroots are fully behind the president’s vision and aspiration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The pledged 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu from Edo State must not remain a mere aspiration,” said Mr Ekpeson. “We must begin to build that momentum from the grassroots now, and this includes symbolic acts that reflect our political commitment.”

Mr Ekpeson said the directive also applies to supervisory councillors, senior special assistants, and special assistants.
