The Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, Lagos, on Thursday organised a programme for in-patients to celebrate Christmas.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Ayodapo Soyinka, who spoke during the programme, said the season signified love, hope and compassion, hence the need to celebrate with patients on admission.

Mr Soyinka said, “Christmas is all about hope, compassion and the power of love, and that is why we organise this programme yearly to celebrate with patients on admission during this period.

“This is to show them that they are not alone in their vulnerable states and to express our love and care for them through this programme. We believe this season of love will bring renewed hope of healing to our patients.”

Mr Soyinka, represented by the Director of Clinical Services, Dr Jane Bakare, reassured patients of the hospital’s continuous efforts to render optimal services.

He commended the hospital staff for their dedication and commitment, which reflect the spirit of Christmas.

The medical director identified persistent flooding during the rainy season and the Igando dumpsite as some of the challenges facing the hospital.

“We recognise the commitment and dedication of our staff who work around the clock to attend to the various health needs of patients,” he said.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Health District One, Dr Adeshola Pitan, who represented the Lagos State Government, commended the hospital for organising the programme to commemorate the Yuletide.

Mr Pitan, who praised the staff and management of the hospital for their dedication, enjoined them to continue to minister life and care to patients through their services.

Patients in various wards of the hospital were presented with gifts.
