U.S. law enforcement has captured Vance Boetler, the alleged shooter who killed a Minnesota lawmaker and wounded another.

Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, in a Facebook post, announced
Mr Boetler was arrested in Sibley County midday on Sunday, over 24 hours after the attack.

“The face of evil,” Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office said, posting the photo of Mr Boelter.

“After relentless and determined police work, the killer is now in custody. Thanks to the dedication of multiple agencies working together along with support from the community, justice is one step closer.”

Drew Evans, Minnesota Department of Public Safety Superintendent, confirmed the arrest of Mr Boelter at a Sunday news conference.

Mr Evans stated, “We will be exploring if there are any broader networks. We have not uncovered any of that at this time.”

He added that the investigation into the attack carried out by Mr Boetler will “fully explore” whether other persons are involved.

Democratic state legislator in Minnesota, Hortman and her husband, Mark, were assassinated by Mr Boetler on Saturday in their home at Brooklyn Park.

Another Minnesota senator, John A. Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were also shot in their home at Champlin.
