Paul “Rudeboy” Okoye of the defunct P-Square singing duo has accused his twin, Peter, aka Mr P, of being responsible for the N1.3 billion money laundering case against their elder brother, Jude.

In a video on the court premises by The Cable, Rudeboy said he stands with Jude, P-Square’s former manager, and would ensure his release.

“Unfortunately, the way the journalists are putting it out there is wrong,” said Rudeboy, who alleged that he and Peter were also guilty of the allegation against Jude.

“Peter is the one putting our brother (Jude) in prison. I have come to support and bring him out because I know the truth, and the same crime they are putting on Jude, Peter is also guilty”.

Jude, alongside his company, Northside Music Ltd., was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday before Judge Alexander Owoeye on a seven-count charge.

He was remanded in prison after the court scheduled a ruling on his bail application for March 3.

One of the charges against Jude involves the direct acquisition of a property in Lagos in 2022, allegedly using illicit funds.

Specifically, Jude is accused of acquiring a property worth N850 million at No. 5, Tony Eromosele Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to the charge, Jude knew or should have known that the money used to acquire the property was part of the proceeds of unlawful acts.

Another charge relates to the music manager and Northside Music Ltd converting over $1 million through a bureau de change into naira and moving the money into various bank accounts to conceal its illicit nature. The EFCC claims that these actions were taken to disguise the funds as legitimate.

Jude has pleaded not guilty to the charges. His lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, informed the court about a pending bail application and requested that the former P-Square manager be remanded in the EFCC’s custody pending the hearing.

However, the prosecution counsel, Larry Peters Aso, objected, citing overcrowding in EFCC custody, and requested that Jude be remanded in the Ikoyi Correctional Facility.

The trial has been scheduled to begin on April 14 at the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court.

Last year, a public dispute between the Okoye brothers escalated when Rudeboy accused Mr P of orchestrating Jude’s arrest by the EFCC.y

However, Mr P denied the allegations and accused Jude of diverting funds into a secret company, “Northside Music,” which he allegedly used to syphon money for years.

In response to the accusations, Jude stated that he had done everything possible to mend the rift between himself and his brothers, even going as far as to “sacrifice himself” to reconcile.
