Amotekun arrests 62 suspected criminals in Ondo

The Western Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun, and other security agencies have arrested 62 suspected criminals in different parts of Ondo State.
Adetunji Adeleye, commander of Amotekun in Ondo State, made this known on Monday in Akure.
Mr Adeleye explained that the arrest of the suspected criminals followed distress calls received and surveillance activities of operatives of the Amotekun Corps and other security agencies.
According to him, Amotekun and all the state security agencies, including the police, the NSCDC, the SSS and the army, conducted various joint operations to arrest the suspects.
“Across the board, we were able to track down about 15 suspected kidnappers. Some of the kidnappers were arrested with the guns they used and the money they received as part of the ransom.
“But the eagle-eyed operatives were able to arrest some of them, especially in the Ala/Dada/Ago Oyinbo axis of Akure North Local Government,” he said.
Mr Adeleye said the corps also arrested some armed robbers caught in the act in the Akure metropolis and some who specialised in breaking shops.
The commandant said another gang that specialised in breaking into homes when the occupants were away for Sunday service was also busted.
Mr Adeleye thanked the public for the support the corps had received in terms of timely and quality information.
