Amotekun nabs 21 suspects for kidnapping, others in Ondo

The Western Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, has arrested no fewer than 21 suspects for alleged kidnapping, armed robbery and other offences.
Adetunji Adeleye, state commander of Amotekun corps, disclosed on Tuesday in Akure that the suspects were arrested within a few weeks.
He said 19 suspects were arrested for law and order offences, while two suspects were arrested for kidnapping.
“In spite of the means to checkmate these criminals, they are also moving forward with their activities, but we got them through receipt of credible information from the public,” Mr Adeleye said.
The Amotekun boss frowned at people who enjoyed buying cheap second-hand items and urged them to desist as they would be regarded as accomplices.
He also called on the public to refrain from patronising Okada (commercial motorcyclists), who used hoods to cover their heads while leaving space for only their eyes and nose.
Mr Adeleye said Amotekun corps broke a syndicate that devised another means of dispossessing innocent Okada of their motorcycles.
“We also have a group who specialises in breaking into empty, unoccupied houses where the owners are not around.
“They burgle and empty the house of everything, and it is sold around to people in various local governments, but we were able to retrieve some of them from the different local governments.
“We equally have suspected kidnappers apprehended around where the ransom was paid. They have given us useful information.
“We have devised security tactics to bring about relative peace at border local governments of Edo-Ondo, Edo-Kogi. The results will be visible within a few days.
“The implication is that Ondo State remains relatively peaceful despite pockets of robbery and kidnapping at the borders,” he said.
