Two Amotekun operatives have been attacked in Aba Agugudu market, in the Atisbo local government area of Oyo.

A Fulani was accused of carrying out the attack.

According to Oyo Affairs, the officers in Ofiki, a village in the local government area had gone on a patrol when they were attacked.

The officers, alongside some vigilantes, were said to have gone on a patrol within Ofiki and Irawo.

But while going to Irawo on Tuesday, they came across some Fulani and Yoruba ensued in an argument around the market.

The operatives were attacked as they tried to settle the dispute.

A Fulani reportedly macheted the Amotekun operatives and the vigilantes.

The Commandant of Amotekun in Oyo, Olayinka Olayanju, who confirmed the attack, said only one operative was injured.

He said, “There was a fight between a farmer and Fulani herders. One Amotekun corps tried to settle the issue, and one Fulani macheted him,” Mr. Olayanju said.

When contacted, the state police spokesman, Gbenga Fadeyi, said he was unaware of the attack.
