Nonye Soludo, wife of Anambra State governor, has dedicated the 2026 BudgIT active citizens award for health activism to members of her pet project, the ‘Healthy Living Initiative’.

She also dedicated the award to stakeholders promoting healthier communities across the state.

Ms Soludo, in a statement issued on Thursday in Awka, described the recognition as a humbling honour and a renewed call to serve the people with greater passion and commitment.

She said the award reflected the collective efforts of partners, healthcare workers, volunteers, community leaders and residents of Anambra who had embraced the vision of healthy living.

According to her, the recognition belongs to every member of the Healthy Living Initiative and all those who have contributed to improving public health in the state.

“Like a family driven by one common goal, we have shown that when communities take ownership of their health, lasting transformation becomes very possible,” she said.

The governor’s wife expressed appreciation to BudgIT, Civic Hive and the Ford Foundation for the award, describing it as encouragement to sustain and expand the initiative’s impact.

She pledged that the initiative would continue to reach more communities and promote healthier lifestyles across the state.

Mrs Soludo noted that the recognition would further strengthen efforts to build a healthier, stronger and more prosperous state through sustained health advocacy and community participation.
