The Anambra State Government said it has rejuvenated the Government House, which will soon be designated a tourist site, to encourage the residents to visit the edifice.

The state’s Deputy Governor, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, said this when he received some Anambra-born artistes who were on tour of some projects executed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Thursday.

The artistes included rapper Okechukwu Emmanuel, known as slow-dog and flautist Chinemeze Chijioke, otherwise called Ojadiligbo.

Mr Ibezim said Government House, known as Lighthouse, belonged to the people of the state and was open to anyone who wished to visit and appreciate the jinx-breaking project, which would revolutionise governance service delivery.

He commended the artistes for their courage to tour some of the project sites with the aim of verifying some of what they had heard, urging them to spread the good news of Mr Soludo’s transformative works.

He said, “We are considering designating this lighthouse as a tourist centre. This is the house of the Anambra people; they are free to come and see it, just as you have done. Before now, the Anambra State government had been operating from prefab buildings in a construction yard since creation and nobody thought it wise to give the state an office that is befitting. Now that you have seen, you will agree with me that Anambra is in good hands, so help us to spread the good news.’’

In their responses, Ojadiligbo and Slowdog applauded Mr Soludo for building the Solution Fun-City, which they described as a new entertainment hub.

They said infrastructure was important to foster local talent and reduce the need to seek opportunities outside the South-East.

They called on businessmen from Anambra State and other parts of Nigeria to invest in Anambra, saying that the state was on the pedestal for sustainable development.

Slow Dog said, “I no longer need to travel outside Anambra to have good fun.We want to commend Soludo for his commitment to promoting cultural and economic growth through strategic investments in infrastructure.’’

The visitors were guided on the tour by the National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors, Chinedu Obigwe.(NAN)
