Anambra government, in collaboration with Descendants Fortune Limited, unveiled the “Anambra Christmas Village 2024” on Saturday in Awka.

The event marks the beginning of the most enchanting and culturally vibrant holiday celebration centre in the South East of Nigeria.

Ikechukwu Okafor, chief executive officer, Descendants Fortune Limitedd, thanked Gov. Charles Soludo of Anambra for approving the partnership with the state government.

He expressed joy at hosting the first- upcoming ever Anambra Christmas Village fun for the people and visitors of the state during the festive season.

Mr Okafor called on the people of Anambra at home and abroad to look inward, appreciate their rich cultural heritage, and join hands in building a more prosperous Anambra.

He emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the state’s vision of sustainable growth and development.

“It’s time to come home, celebrate our roots, and contribute to the future of Anambra,” Mr Okafor said.

Emmanuel Owuala, project manager of Anambra Christmas Village 2024, said that the collaboration was aimed at injecting a new, fresh social living during the yuletide season.

He said that the 2024 maiden event is designed to capture the essence of Christmas while reflecting on the unique spirit of Anambra as a state in eastern Nigeria.

Mr Owuala said the project would be a month-long celebration, bringing together families, friends, and visitors to enjoy a blend of traditional festivities and innovative attractions.

“This project aims to create lasting memories while showcasing the rich culture and heritage of our people.

“The village will serve as a one-stop marketplace, offering a variety of goods, from crafts to delicacies, making it the perfect holiday shopping destination,” he explained.

Mr Owuala said that the project was consciously themed “People, Solutions, and the Magic of Christmas.”

He said that the event would promote community collaboration, creative ingenuity, and sustainable practices aligning with Soludo’s vision of a prosperous, secure, and environmentally friendly Anambra.

He disclosed that one of the key highlights of the event was the unveiling of the winning logo for Anambra Christmas Village 2024 by Christian Udechukwu, commissioner for industry.

The winner of the logo competition was Nzube Victor Udechukwu, whose design will represent the festive event, capturing the essence of the Christmas Village and its focus on people, solutions, and the holiday spirit.

Chinedu Nwoye, chief of protocol and deputy chief of staff to Mr Soludo, expressed optimism about the success of the project and its contribution to the state’s economy and cultural renaissance.

Earlier, Don Onyenji, the state commissioner for culture, entertainment, and tourism, reiterated the commitment of Mr Soludo’s administration to the vision of a prosperous, secure, and green Anambra.

Mr Onyenji said that the project is in line with the core objectives of Mr Soludo’s administration in providing recreational facilities for the citizenry.

The commissioner said that in addition to the Christmas Village project, the Solution Fun City, a massive entertainment complex nearing completion, would be available for use by Descendants Fortune Limited.

He revealed that the Fun City would be officially opened in December and would operate in line with the Anambra Christmas Village 2024.

“Solution Fun City will offer a variety of attractions, making it a key destination for families and tourists alike.

“The project is going to heighten anticipation for what is set to be a remarkable holiday season in Anambra,” he said.
