Anambra lawmaker urges INEC to upload poll results in real time for transparency

Senator Victor Umeh, representing the Anambra Central Senatorial District, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure real-time uploading of election results to its IReV portal.
Mr Umeh said that a timely upload would guarantee transparency and public trust in the governorship election.
The senator spoke shortly after casting his vote at Polling Unit 018, Aguluzigbo Town Hall, Anaocha Local Government Area, on Saturday.
He emphasised that prompt and transparent result management was key to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.
“INEC should ensure the results of the election are secured till the end without any alterations,” Mr Umeh said.
The lawmaker also called on the newly appointed INEC chairman, Joash Amupitan, to deliver a credible and widely acceptable outcome.
According to him, any lapses or technical glitches could undermine the process.
Mr Umeh commended INEC officials for the smooth conduct of the exercise, describing the voting process as “swift and seamless.”
He, however, expressed concern over the low voter turnout.
Mr Umeh also condemned vote buying, describing it as a criminal act that erodes the sanctity of democracy.
