Anambra police pledge to protect vulnerable persons

The Anambra State Police Command has assured residents of its determination to protect vulnerable individuals and provide security of lives and properties.
In a press statement on Sunday in Awka, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police public relations officer (PPRO), said that the Anambra Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, frowned at the rate at which inhuman treatment is meted to some vulnerable persons in the state.
Mr Echeng said the command would continue to do everything within its power to protect the vulnerable from all forms of inhuman acts their guardians subject to them.
He said a case of inhuman action against vulnerable persons would be thoroughly investigated, and at the conclusion, such a case shall be charged to court.
The statement attributed Mr Echeng’s reaction to the recent trending video of a little girl, Idimmachikwu, who was subjected to inhuman acts by her guardian, Chinyere Ifesinachi,25.
The PPRO said that, through the police operatives’ collaboration with the staff of the Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, the information was duly followed, and the girl was rescued.
“Idimmachikwu was seen with different degrees of injuries all over her body, allegedly perpetuated by Ifesinachi, and is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
“Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID for a comprehensive investigation as directed by the Command and would be charged to court on its conclusion,” the PPRO said.
The police commended the public and the neighbourhood watch, urging the public to always be security alert and report any unlawful incident.
