Anambra sports director calls for merit-based portfolio allocation

Emeka Obidinma, the Anambra State director of sports, has called for competence in assigning sports portfolios to ensure effective service delivery in the sector.
Mr Obidinma made the call in Awka on Friday.
According to him, the state requires a leader who is approachable and willing to listen.
“All we need to move sports forward in Anambra is someone who understands and follows various indoor and outdoor sporting activities with passion.
“Of importance, the sports commission chairman should be somebody who has listening ears, as we are all getting ready to start implementation of our programmes once appointed,” he said.
Mr Obidinma also called for the provision of more sports facilities in the state to meaningfully engage youths.
“It is true that the state government does not have any indoor sports facilities for now, but we believe that this administration can address that.
“Youth restiveness will be greatly reduced when sporting activities thrive across communities in Anambra State,” he said.
