AnambraDecides: Reps ask NSA to curtail killings ahead of election

The House of Representatives has asked the National Security Adviser to deploy more security operatives to Anambra towards containing the rising insecurity in the state ahead of the November 6 election.
This followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance by Chris Azugbogu (PDP-Anambra) on the floor of the House on Tuesday, in Abuja.
Mr Azugbogu said Anambra was turning into a centre of attacks, adding that the killings were orchestrated by mischief makers to disrupt the November 6 governorship election.
He said no single day passes without a case of robbery, abduction or outright killings.
The lawmaker stated that the day Chike Akunyili was murdered, eight others were slaughtered at the Nkpor part of the Anambra state. “The next day the police station in Orumba north was attacked and people were killed,” he said.
He said his vehicle was attacked along Nnewi Nnobi road on September 30, leading to the death of one of his drivers, calling on security agencies to curtail the killings.
The House mandated the committee on national security and intelligence and police affairs to ensure that normalcy is restored in the state and report back within three weeks.
