AnambraDecides2025: Peter Obi votes; laments vote buying

A former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate in 2023, Peter Obi, after casting his vote on Saturday, lamented voting buying in the state governorship election.
Mr Obi voted at the Polling Unit 019, Agulu II, in the Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State on Saturday.
“Unfortunately, those who are the victims of bad governance seem to be fuelling it,” Mr Obi told journalists after voting. “What you see is vote buying to the tune of N20,000, N30,000, and N50,000.”
The governorship election features 16 governorship candidates from different political platforms.
The re-election of incumbent governors Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), whose four year tenure elapses in March 2026, is being challenged by contenders: Jude Ezenwafor, the PDP’s flag-bearer, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP), Chuma Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Geoffrey Onyejegbu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and others.
