Anglican bishop begs Christians to endure economic hardship, remain positive

Anglican cleric Nedison Foreman has urged Nigerians to remain positive in the face of economic challenges, believing that God will grant the nation’s leaders the wisdom to turn things around.
Mr Foreman, bishop of the Diocese of Jalingo, made the call during a homily with the theme “Running The Christians Race: Implications for the church in perilous times, on Sunday at the Church of Pentecost Awka.
“I am appealing to Christians to endure hardship as with God all our needs will be supplied to us, so run away from evil company,” he said.
Mr Foreman, the guest preacher at the second session of the 13th Synod of the Diocese of Awka, urged Christians not to be in ungodly company and always to be free from corruption.
He urged Christians to avoid evil company and stand tall in righteousness.
“Do not keep company just for the sake of socialisation; scan your environment and work with God to gain spiritual relationships.
“Refuse to be carried away by falsehood, as was warned in the Holy Bible, Matthew 24, verse 11, which says that many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.
“Equip yourselves with the word of God, read your Bible over and over, study it, and your spirit will be guided aright’’, the cleric said.
The 13th Synod of the Diocese of Awka started on May 2 and will end on May 5. It had over 1500 participants, with over 600 delegates from parishes in the diocese of Awka in attendance.
