APC candidate distributes bags of fertiliser to Sokoto farmers
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, Prof. Musa Maitafsir, has supported farmers in the area with farm inputs.
Mr Maitafsir, the immediate past Director-General of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), distributed the items on Sunday at Yabo Local Government Secretariat.
Speaking at the event, Mr Maitafsir said the gesture was part of his commitment to supporting farmers and improving their living standards.
He said he procured 600 bags each of fertiliser, maize and millet for distribution across polling units in the constituency.
“Today, as you can all witness, we are here to support our people and bring ease and comfort to their daily needs.The gesture is aimed at sustaining our support to the people, even before being elected.
“We want to gain their confidence and assure them that, after the election, we will continue to reach out to them and do more for their wellbeing,” he said.
Mr Maitafsir also highlighted his contributions to education, particularly the establishment of a college of education in Yabo, which he said, he wholly established and supported for more than a decade.
He appreciated the people of the constituency for their support and appealed for continued support for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, a member representing Yabo Constituency in the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Abubakar Shehu, commended Maitafsir for the gesture, describing it as a good omen for the area.
Mr Shehu said the initiative complemented the efforts of the state government in supporting the people, particularly in education, religious activities and assistance to civil servants and persons living with disabilities.
He urged the people to reciprocate the gesture by voting for all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Similarly, Chairman of Yabo Local Government Council, Muhammad Bazar, said the gesture did not come as a surprise.
He described it as consistent with Mr Maitafsir’s longstanding support for the community even before he ventured into politics.
The Yabo APC Women Leader, Murja Maina, promised that women in the area would continue to support the APC candidates.
