The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Osun, Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed confidence that he will win the August 15 governorship election.

Mr Oyebamiji said he looked forward to returning to pay homage to President Bola Tinubu as the governor of Osun. The APC candidate stated this on Monday after accompanying the minister of marine and blue economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on a visit to President Tinubu in Lagos.

In a statement after it, Mr Oyebamiji described the visit as an opportunity for APC leaders to reaffirm their commitment to progressive ideals and national development.

Mr Oyebamiji praised Mr Tinubu’s leadership, describing the president as a father figure, a national leader, and a symbol of progressive governance.

“I had the honour of joining our leader, Dr Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, to pay homage to our father and national leader. President Tinubu remains a symbol of progressive leadership and national development.

“The visit afforded us another opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the ideals that continue to move our nation forward,” he said.

The APC candidate expressed optimism about his chances in the forthcoming governorship election, saying the party remained strongly positioned for victory.

“By the grace of God and the support of the people of Osun, I remain confident of victory in the coming election. I believe that the people of our state are committed to the progressive vision that has brought development and prosperity to many communities.

“With their support and the grace of God, we shall emerge victorious and continue the task of building a better Osun,” he said.

Mr Oyebamiji said his ambition was driven by a desire to serve residents and advance the welfare of communities across the state.

“In the coming year, I hope to return for this same noble visit as the governor of our dear state. I look forward to joining other progressive governors in continued service to our people and the advancement of our shared vision for a greater Nigeria.

“That remains my commitment and the objective that continues to inspire our engagement with the people across Osun,” Mr Oyebamiji said.

The APC flag bearer reiterated his commitment to providing purposeful leadership and sustaining the party’s development agenda if elected. He pledged to implement people-centred policies to improve living standards and contribute to national development.

According to him, consultations with stakeholders and residents have continued across the state ahead of the election. He said the engagements were designed to strengthen support for the APC and present the party’s vision to voters.

Mr Oyebamiji emerged as the APC candidate after securing overwhelming support from delegates during the party’s governorship primary, as the party seeks to reclaim Osun in the forthcoming election.
