APC celebrates peaceful ward, LG congresses in Kogi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has said its recently concluded ward and local government congresses were successful, describing them as peaceful, seamless and devoid of rancour.
The APC state Chairman, Abdullahi Bello, made the declaration in a statement on Sunday in Lokoja.
The APC chairman said the process brought together party stakeholders across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas (LGA) and 239 wards.
He said the peaceful conduct reflected the party’s sophistication and commitment to internal democracy.
According to Mr Bello, the orderly conduct of the congresses demonstrated the APC’s capacity to organise free, fair and credible internal elections.
He noted that the smooth exercise underscored the party’s strong foundation, unity and the dedication of its members to shared values and goals.
Mr Bello said, “The successful congresses are a clear indication of our internal cohesion as we prepare for the 2027 general elections and beyond.
“The outcome sends a strong signal to opposition parties that the APC remains united, focused and poised for victory.”
The cairman expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Ododo for his efforts in ensuring a peaceful and inclusive process.
He commended the governor’s engagement with stakeholders and his commitment to fairness, noting that his leadership provided a level-playing field for all aspirants and party members.
Mr Bello also lauded the APC National Working Committee for organising what he termed one of the most widely accepted congresses in the party’s history.
He praised the committee’s representatives for conducting the exercise with integrity, transparency and professionalism.
Mr Bello also commended security agencies for their neutrality and vigilance throughout the process, which, he said, contributed significantly to the success of the congresses.
The APC chairman further thanked party leaders, stakeholders and members across the state for their trust, participation and support, describing their enthusiasm and discipline as the driving force behind the party’s achievements.
He said that the peaceful conduct of the congresses reflected the party’s strength and organisational capacity.
The chairman said the party was well-positioned to consolidate on its gains and pursue its political objectives in Kogi State and beyond.
