APC chieftain assassinated in Benue: Police

The Benue Police Command says an All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain in the Otukpo Local Government Area was assassinated in the early hours of Monday.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, told journalists on Monday in Makurdi that the victim, Ejeh Udeh, was killed in Ondo, in the Ugboji community of Otukpo LGA.
Mr Edet said the assassins attacked and shot the politician at close range, and he died on the spot.
A source said the assailants, who waited for their victim while it was raining, rode on motorcycles and opened fire on him when he entered his compound.
The police spokesperson told journalists that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the assassination.
Mr Edet said the suspect was in their custody, adding that the investigation was ongoing.
