APC chieftain urges members to unite for candidates’ victory
Akanni Seriki, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council in Lagos, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress to work collectively to ensure the victory of all the party’s candidates across the country in 2027.
Mr Seriki made the call in an interview in Lagos on Thursday.
He said that with the conclusion of the party’s primary elections, all aspirants should set aside their grievances, close ranks, and work harmoniously with the party’s candidates in the overall interest of the APC.
“The primary election has come and gone. Every aspirant must accept the outcome in good faith and join hands with the party’s candidates to ensure victory at the polls. What is important now is the success of the APC and not individual ambition,” he said.
He added that the party’s victory should remain the watchword of every member, irrespective of the position contested in the primaries.
“Our collective goal should be the victory of the APC. Every member must put the party first and work tirelessly to mobilise support for all our candidates at every level,” he said.
Mr Seriki said that the APC remained one united family, stressing that party supremacy must be respected and upheld by all members.
“The strength of the APC lies in its unity. We must respect the decisions of the party, uphold party supremacy and remain committed to its ideals. That is the only way we can sustain our electoral successes,” he said.
He urged party leaders and stakeholders at all levels to embark on reconciliation efforts to unite members and strengthen the party ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
“Leaders of the party have a responsibility to bring everyone together. Reconciliation, dialogue and inclusiveness are essential to building a stronger and more united APC,” he said.
According to him, the achievements of APC-led governments at both the federal and state levels would serve as a major campaign strength for the party.
“Our administration has implemented programmes and policies that have positively impacted the lives of Nigerians. We should confidently present these achievements to the electorate and seek renewed support,” he said.
Mr Seriki also appealed to party faithful to conduct their campaigns peacefully, avoid inflammatory remarks and comply with the rules guiding the electoral process.
“As members of a responsible political party, we must campaign with decorum, respect opposing views and ensure that peace prevails before, during and after the elections,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious across the country if members remained united, disciplined and committed to the party’s collective vision.
“With unity, discipline and commitment, I have no doubt that the APC will record overwhelming victories across the states. Together, we can achieve greater success for our party and for Nigeria,” Mr Seriki said.
