APC commends Obi, Atiku for keenly contesting against Tinubu

The Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress has commended Peter Obi of the Labour party, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and other political parties for keenly contesting against Bola Tinubu, who was eventually declared as the president-elect by INEC on Wednesday.
APC chair in Lagos, Cornelius Ojelabi, gave the commendation in a statement congratulating Mr Tinubu on Wednesday.
The statement released by the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, acknowledged the wide support for the president-elect across the board despite the keen contest.
Mr Ojelabi applauded all the leaders, party members and all Nigerians who, despite challenges, performed their responsibilities to entrench our democracy further.
The APC chair also appreciated “the role of the opposition parties who made a keen contest of the election by providing options for the electorate.”
He assured that Mr Tinubu would fulfil his part of the social contract with all Nigerians by delivering in totality on his manifesto.
Mr Ojelabi explained that this victory would usher in an era of peace, security, prosperity, nationwide growth and our restoration to a place of pride in the comity of nations.
“Nigerians have chosen a president whose selling point remains his antecedent, pedigree and unwavering commitment to progressive governance,” he said.
Mr Tinubu polled 8,794,726 to win the February 25 presidential poll. Mr Abubakar garnered 6,984,520 votes, and Mr Obi 6,101,533 votes.
