APC committee pledges issue-based campaign during Osun governorship campaign

The All Progressives Congress Media and Publicity Committee for the August 15 governorship election in Osun says the party’s campaign will be devoid of propaganda.
The chairman of the committee, Remi Omowaiye, stated this during a Monday interview with journalists in Osogbo.
Mr Omowaiye, flanked by other committee members, said the party would run an issue-based campaign, describing its candidate as sellable. He said the achievements of the APC government under former governor Gboyega Oyetola were evident and would form part of the party’s campaign strategy.
Mr Omowaiye, however, described the state under the opposition party as lagging behind in education, health, security, among other sectors. He said that if elected, the party’s candidate would fix the rot in key sectors of the state.
“Oyebamiji will manage the resources of the state prudently. The revenue accruing to Osun is huge but not well managed by the present administration. We are going to make agriculture work. We will revive agricultural settlements,” he said.
Mr Omowaiye added that the APC candidate would industrialise the state and revitalise its economy by implementing the Electricity Act. He noted that Oyebamiji would partner with relevant security agencies to tackle insecurity head-on.
Mr Omowaiye also said the party would ensure that the election is free, fair and credible, adding that it would be based on the principle of ‘one man, one vote’.
He said the party would not allow a repeat of the alleged irregularities in the 2022 election, during which, he claimed, voting continued until 10:00 p.m.
The co-chair of the committee, Funke Egbemode, expressed confidence that the electorate would return the APC to power.
Ms Egbemode, a former commissioner in the state, said the party’s candidate would prioritise the welfare of the people and address neglected sectors.
