The Progressive Governors Forum, a platform under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has given President Bola Tinubu a 100 per cent performance rating and hailed him as the founder of a new Nigeria.

“We have assessed your performance, and Mr President, I’m happy to announce that we have scored your performance 100 per cent,” Hope Uzodimma, the forum’s chairman and governor of Imo State, said.

Mr Uzodimma spoke during a Sallah visit by governors elected on the APC platform to Mr Tinubu’s private residence in Lagos.

He praised the president for saving Nigeria from collapse through his reforms, which he said had restored the country’s stability.

Mr Uzodimma also thanked Mr Tinubu for his fatherly role, interventions in times of need, and vision for the country’s future.

“You have virtually recovered Nigeria from the road of collapse to that of stability and survival. We, your field officers at the subnational level, are indeed very, very grateful,” he said in a video of the visit shared on Saturday by The Cable.

Mr Uzodimma reaffirmed the governors’ support for Mr Tinubu’s administration and pledged to promote its economic policies across their states.

“We want to inform you, Mr President, that we are proud to be your ambassadors at the subnational level, and we are here to defend your policies, to preach your message, and to let Nigerians know that we have come out of darkness and that the right light is now ready to shine. You brought us hope, and we believe in you,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mr Tinubu’s government has faced widespread criticism over the rising cost of living, which has been attributed to his economic reforms.

Since the removal of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira in 2023, Nigerians have been experiencing rising living costs. However, his government has repeatedly argued that the subsidy removal saved Nigeria from collapse.

According to Mr Tinubu’s administration, Nigeria’s economy has witnessed a turnaround since his tax reforms and other fiscal policies, despite reports that his economic reforms have plunged more Nigerians into poverty.
