APC national secretary buries mother in Osun

The remains of Sidikat Basiru, mother of the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Bashiru, were buried on Monday in Osogbo.
Janazah (Islamic funeral) prayers were held for the deceased at the Ansar-ud-Deen Mosque in Osogbo before her interment.
The National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda; the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum and his Ondo State counterpart, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, were among the dignitaries who attended the burial to sympathise with the family.
Speaking at the event, Mr Bashiru expressed gratitude for his mother’s life, describing her as an embodiment of love and self-sacrifice in raising him and his siblings.
He said she was a devoted Muslim who brought up her children in the way of Allah.
“She believed strongly in family unity. I come from a polygamous home, and she always enjoined us to see ourselves and our step-siblings as one,” he said.
Mr Bashiru added that his late mother would be greatly missed.
Others present at the burial included the Oyo APC governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Alli; the Osun APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji; and a former Osun deputy governor, Titi-Laoye Ponle, among others.
Mrs Basiru’s death was announced on Sunday.
