APC wins Chikun constituency in Kaduna

David Tanko of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Chikun constituency seat for the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
The returning officer, Jamilu Ya’u of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, made the announcement on Sunday in Kaduna.
Mr Ya’u said Mr Tanko of APC won 18,566 votes to defeat his closest rival, Maria Samuel-Dogo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 10,903.
He said AdamuSolomon of the Labour Party (LP) came third, scoring 3,285 votes.
The re-run and by-election for the state and federal constituencies in Kaduna State was held on Saturday.
The elections took place in six constituencies covering seven local government areas, including Chikun, Igabi, Kaduna South, Kudan, Kachia, Kagarko, and Kauru.
The polling units in the constituencies are 1,114, and the registered voters are more than 639,914.
