John Adeyemo, the commander of the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, has assured officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria that the sacrifices of fallen heroes would not be in vain.

Mr Adeyemo gave the assurance in a statement on Monday during an interdenominational service held at St. Andrew’s Military Church, Kontagora.

The service was to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.

Mr Adeyemo, while delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the chief of army staff, Waidi Shaibu, enjoined military personnel to remain committed, professional and resolute in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

He urged them to be mindful of the media-sensitive nature of the prevailing operational environment while carrying out assigned duties.

The corps artillery commander reiterated the Nigerian army’s central role in ensuring the continued existence and stability of the nation.

“As the nation honours its fallen heroes and celebrates the contributions of veterans and serving personnel, Nigerians must collectively focus on national unity,” said Mr Adeyemo.

According to him, such unity is critical to effectively addressing the numerous challenges confronting national security and regional stability.

“The sacrifices of our fallen heroes must continue to inspire us to work together in unity to safeguard our motherland,” he said.
