Army commences shooting exercise in Imo

The Nigerian Army has warned Imo State residents to keep off its shooting range as it commences its annual range classification exercise between September 5 and 7.
In a statement, Joseph Akubo, the spokesperson for the 34 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Obinze, Owerri, explained that the warning became necessary as the exercise involved the use of firearms and live ammunition.
“I am directed to inform you that 34 Artillery Brigade will commence this year’s annual range classification exercise from 5th to 9th September 2022, at the small arms shooting range, Obinze Barracks.
“The exercise will be conducted from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily throughout the stipulated period.
“The people of Obinze and the surrounding town are thereby advised to strongly follow the directives of the Army and stay away from the area throughout the period,” the statement partly read.
The annual exercise aims to test personnel’s efficiency in weapon use.
