The Nigerian Army Post-Service Housing Development Limited has moved to deepen standardisation, accountability, and transparency in the management of its estates nationwide.

Its CEO, Isaiah Allison, stated this during a meeting with the chairmen of Post-Service Housing Estate Residents Associations in Abuja, according to a statement on Tuesday.

Mr Allison said standardisation of estate operations remained central to PHDL’s mandate of providing secure, well-managed and value-driven housing communities for retired personnel.

Mr Allison also cautioned that houses built under the Army Housing Ownership Option for Officers and Soldiers scheme were not for sale, stressing that they were welfare facilities meant strictly as retirement homes for soldiers.

He warned that any attempt to sell such houses would not be approved.

Mr Allison reaffirmed PHDL’s commitment to collaborative estate management, assuring residents of the company’s resolve to maintain estates that are secure, orderly, transparent, and attractive for long-term homeownership.

The PHDL boss stressed the importance of proper bookkeeping, regular general meetings, and strict adherence to the two-year tenure limit for estate executives, describing them as critical to accountability and leadership renewal.

He further disclosed that audit and technical inspection teams from PHDL headquarters would conduct quarterly visits to estates to ensure compliance with approved governance and operational standards.

According to him, issues of estate security, updated governance rules, and a new addendum addressing emerging operational realities were also discussed at the meeting.

The meeting brought together POHERA chairmen and secretaries from PHDL estates across the country to harmonise operations, improve service delivery, and promote sustainable estate governance.

The parley featured capacity-building sessions on financial management, including account administration, record-keeping, and procedures for opening POHERA bank accounts and changing signatories.

During an interactive session, estate chairmen presented briefs on achievements and challenges, while Mr Allison provided policy guidance and solutions tailored to the needs of individual estates.

The meeting brought together POHERA chairmen and secretaries from PHDL estates across the country to harmonise operations, improve service delivery, and promote sustainable estate governance.

PHDL’s boss also approved renaming all residents’ associations under PHDL to POHERA, alongside the introduction of a unified POHERA logo and standardised letterhead to strengthen coordination and identity across estates.

He announced the adoption of a joint signatory arrangement for estate accounts to enhance financial transparency and operational integrity.
