Arsenal continue sensational run in title charge; Forest hold reemerging United

Arsenal extended their winning streak to nine games across all competitions following a comfortable 2-0 win against Burnley at Turf Moor Stadium to temporarily extend the Gunners’ lead on the Premier League table to seven points.
The result also increased Arsenal’s unbeaten streak to 12 matches in all competitions after having not lost a game since the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in August, with Mikel Arteta’s side looking determined to secure major titles this season.
Forward Viktor Gyokeres opened the scoring for Arsenal 14 minutes into the match at Turf Moor on Saturday when the Swedish international headed home a pass from Gabriel to score his fifth goal for the Gunners.
Arsenal doubled the lead five minutes after the half-hour mark as Declan Rice headed a sublime cross from Leandro Trossard across the goal, giving the visitors a comfortable two-goal lead into the break.
The Gunners were unable to add to their tally in the second half but also ensured that Burnley didn’t go through goalkeeper David Raya to secure an impressive three points on the road in their charge for the league title this time.
Regardless of the outcome of other matches yet to be played this weekend, Arsenal will maintain at least a four-point advantage heading into the next matchday.
Meanwhile, Manchester United left it late as Amad Diallo scored a last-minute stunner to secure a 2-2 draw for the Red Devils against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
Casemiro put United ahead with a header from Bruno Fernandes’ corner kick in the 34th minute. However, two goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona in quick succession saw the visitors find themselves behind only five minutes into the second half.
Meanwhile, in the 81st minute, Amad volleyed a parried ball from outside the 18-yard box into the net to rescue a point for United as Ruben Amorim’s men extended their unbeaten league run to four games.
