Premier League side Arsenal are through to the final of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2006, courtesy of a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their semifinal clash at the Emirates on Tuesday.

Following a 1-1 draw at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid last week, it was a winner-takes-all affair coming into the return leg, and Mikel Arteta’s team got the job done to book their spot in the Budapest final.

Bukayo Saka’s only goal, just a few minutes before the halftime break, was all that Arsenal needed to seal the victory on a 2-1 aggregate scoreline.

It is the second time in Arsenal’s history that they have reached the final of the competition.

Arsenal will face the winner of the second semifinal match between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday in the final, providing the Gunners the opportunity to win their first-ever Champions League title.

Defending champions PSG have the advantage going into the crucial game after a 5-4 thriller win over Bayern Munich in France last Tuesday.
