Arsenal ruin Tottenham’s unbeaten run to stay top of EPL log
Arsenal maintained their winning form, defeating Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 in the English Premier League on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners ended Spurs unbeaten run this season, staying atop the EPL log with Saturday’s brilliant win.
Thomas Partey gave Arsenal the lead 20 minutes into the game at the Emirates with a long range shot.
Harry Kane levelled for Spurs, scoring from the spot in the 31st minute, seeing both teams go into the first half break with one goal each.
The Gunners, however, returned into the second half more determined, outplaying Spurs to grab a deserved three points.
Brazilian star Gabriel Jesus restored Arsenal’s lead barely four minutes into the second half, giving Arsenal.
Emerson’s red card in the 62nd minute ruined Spurs’ hope of a comeback as they were reduced to 10-man against a smoking Arsenal.
It took Arsenal five minutes after Emerson was sent away to increase their goal margin, sealing a crucial win.
Granit Xhaka’s fine finish from inside the box made it three for the Gunners, ruining Spurs unbeaten run this season.
With 65 per cent of ball possession, eight shots on target and all three points against Spurs, the Gunners made a bold statement in their readiness to contend for the title this season.
