Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka tests positive for COVID-19 in Switzerland camp

Arsenal’s assistant captain Granit Xhaka has tested positive for the coronavirus in his Switzerland national team camp.
Xhaka missed Wednesday’s friendly against Greece after a PCR test result showed he had contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus.
The development now puts his participation in Sunday’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Italy is unclear.
The Swiss federation said he was isolated after developing symptoms in the morning.
A first rapid test was negative but the PCR test conducted afterwards positive.
Another PCR test is scheduled for Thursday and that result should determine whether or not he can feature against Italy.
Health authorities allowed the Swiss team to play against Greece as scheduled because Xhaka was isolated immediately.
All other players were either vaccinated or have recovered from a COVID-19 illness.
