Asante Kotoko end Kwara United’s CAF Confederation Cup dream

Asante Kotoko of Ghana on Sunday defeated Kwara United of Nigeria 1-0 at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta, Ogun State, ending their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Kotoko had earlier secured a 4-3 win in the first leg played in Accra last weekend.
The latest victory gave the Ghanaian giants a 5-3 aggregate win, dashing Kwara United’s hopes of progressing with just a lone goal.
The Ilorin side dominated the match but failed to find the net, while Kotoko struck early in the second half before a large and passionate crowd.
Hubert Gyau’s goal proved decisive as the Ghanaians held their discipline and stayed compact.
Kwara United pushed relentlessly for an equaliser, but Kotoko’s defence stood strong to secure qualification.
The result means Kwara United’s continental adventure ends at the preliminary stage, while Asante Kotoko advance to the next round.
