Assembly hails police for proactive measures in maintaining peace, security in Ondo

Ondo State House of Assembly has commended the state command of the Nigeria Police Force for being proactive in enthroning peace and security in the state.
Speaker of the assembly, Olamide Oladiji, gave the commendation when he led some lawmakers on a visit to the command’s headquarters on Monday in Akure.
Mr Olamide said that the visit had become imperative in order to rub minds with the police to further enhance the security of the state.
He commended the police for a job well done in the state, particularly at the moment.
The speaker pledged that the assembly would continue to give legislative backing to all the security agencies in the state toward enhancing security for enduring peace.
“On behalf of the house, I thank you for managing the security situation at this trying time.
“Your high level of professionalism in maintaining peace, law and order deserves applause,” he said.
Mr Oladiji advocated for more synergy with the 10th assembly toward achieving unhindered peace in the state.
Responding, the commissioner of police in the state, Asabi Abiodun, said that the primary responsibility of the police was to protect the lives and property of the citizens.
Mr Abiodun assured that the command would continue to do its best to secure the state and work harmoniously with stakeholders in the state to achieve its set objectives.
According to him, without security, there cannot be any meaningful development.
He, therefore, solicited the support of the assembly in fast-tracking the command’s operational facilities in enhancing its capacity.
The police commissioner applauded the assembly’s leadership for deeming it fit to visit the command, saying that this would further strengthen the security of the state.
