Association to equip out-of-school children with digital competencies

The Non-Governmental Association for Literacy Support Services (NOGALSS) has pledged to equip out-of-school children with digital competencies.
NOGALSS national president Noah Emmanuel disclosed this in Abuja at a stakeholders and consultative meeting on the GCE-NOGALSS-GIZ project.
Mr Emmanuel said the initiative, when implemented, would not only transform lives but also lay a strong foundation for sustainable development.
The national president added that the project targets about 180 beneficiaries in each state from the country’s six geopolitical zones. He listed the states to benefit as Taraba, Kano, Imo, Akwa-Ibom, Oyo and Abuja.
“We have a target of 180 beneficiaries per state, but we all know that the need is much greater. There are thousands more children who could benefit from this programme if we pool our resources, share our expertise, and coordinate our efforts more effectively.
“Today, I call on stakeholders to collaborate closely with us. By leveraging our collective strengths, we can expand our reach and impact.
“We must aim higher and ensure that no child is left behind in this journey towards digital empowerment,” he said.
Abdulmalik Bello, assistant director at the National Information Technology Development Agency, stated that NITDA would provide digital infrastructure support for the organisation.
Hope Ochei, a representative of the federal ministry of education, commended the NOGALSS initiative while reiterating its commitment to provide support through its different digital platforms and resources.
