Atiku, Peter Obi, Makinde in closed-door meeting between ADC, PDP

Prominent opposition figures under the African Democratic Congress, on Wednesday, converged at David Mark’s residence in Abuja for a high-powered meeting with the Aminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The crucial meeting featured several ADC and PDP leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Aminu Tambuwal, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Seyi Makinde, Jerry Gana, Abubakar Malami and other key stakeholders from both parties.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr Makinde said the visit by PDP leaders was in solidarity with the ADC over the #OccupyINEC protest earlier staged in Abuja.
“What has been happening within the political space, the court and the protest today, we came to show solidarity and commit to a clean democratic space in our country,” the politician stated.
The ADC leaders had marched to the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Maitama to protest the derecognition of the party’s leadership.
The opposition, who insisted President Bola Tinubu must go, alleged orchestrated attempts by the president to stifle opposition and contest the forthcoming presidential election unchallenged.
Former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who addressed protesters during the rally, warned Nigerians against voting Mr Tinubu in 2027, alleging he would ruin Abuja and move the country’s capital to Lagos.
Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress insisted the leadership crisis rocking the ADC was self-inflicted and accused the party of desperation for power.
