The African Union has announced that it will hold its 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council on February 11 and 12 at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

This was announced in a statement on Wednesday.

The council is one of AU’s principal policy organs, comprising the foreign affairs ministers of member states.

It is responsible for coordinating and making policy decisions in areas of common interest to member states.

The council is also responsible for preparing items for consideration by the Assembly of Heads of State and Government.

According to the statement, the council will consider the report of the 51st Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives’ Committee and deliberate on AU participation in the G20.

It will also conduct elections and appointments to AU organs and institutions.

The council will further review the implementation of its decision on the Skills Audit and Competency Assessment process, consider draft legal instruments, and institutional governance matters.

This process is the AU’s key institutional reform to align its staff skills with a new structure aimed at enhancing efficiency through merit-based placements.
